At the age of 20, I went to Australia for the first time on a Working Holiday. My goal was to save money in an unfamiliar land and travel around the world. To achieve this, I worked hard and submitted many resumes, but I couldn’t secure the right job, so I ended up doing cleaning work at dawn. The experience of traveling around the world after reaching my financial target has become a valuable asset for me.
While doing housekeeping and chores at a resort with team members from various races, I learned that while basic language skills are important, the key is showing sincere consideration and respect when interacting with others. This experience was very similar to when I was a manager in the theater department during high school, making plays with fellow members. Coordinating ideas to achieve a common goal and executing the tasks step by step made me realize how much I enjoy being immersed in the process.
Currently, I am working in the local family-run lodging business, focusing on listening to customers’ concerns, solving problems, and providing better service. I directly communicate with customers of various age groups, listen to their complaints, and think about where the gap lies between the customer’s expectations and the service provided, from my perspective. For example, the reason guests choose accommodations is to enjoy comfort and cleanliness, but many people find that small details make a big difference. I pay special attention to things like the bed – the largest item in the room – and ensure it’s always arranged in a certain way to make the guests feel more comfortable, as even a small difference can have a significant impact.
