Presentation - Introduction

Teaching young Australian students can be challenging. Many students are turned off by the hard work of learning characters and endless grammar. What strategies can be used to offset this perception? How can we unlock student interest which may lead to motivating students future love of Chinese? My experience has taught me that ‘teaching’ and providing ‘cultural’ and on-site learning of Chinese culture/history can really motivate students to explore the language and its people in greater depth. I will showcase some of these strategies and ‘field visits’ and provide opportunities for educators to share their experiences., 200
