Work History

System Test Engineer

Hyundai Motor Corporation
08.2023 - Current

Waymo Collaboration – Motion Control HILS Commissioning: SDS – dSPACE Dynamic Model (ASM) – ECU

  • Led the integration and validation of SDS, dSPACE ASM model, and ECU, optimizing CAN communication and ensuring seamless system interoperability.
  • Developed and executed test cases for model–ECU connectivity, RestBus simulation, and ignition sequence alignment, using internal variable monitoring for verification.
  • Coordinated logic improvements, identified and resolved CAN scaling and parameter issues, and collaborated with Waymo engineers during on-site validation in Fremont in June 2025.
  • Preparing additional test cases targeting multi-ECU cooperative control and advanced network integration; scheduled for further on-site validation in Fremont in August 2025.
  • Authored and validated 8 requirement-driven test cases for the torque path feature in Waymo’s firmware.

Continuous Test (CT) Environment Development

  • Designed and implemented an automated test workflow integrating Project Management Tool (JIRA), automation tools and benches (HILS, SILS), and ALM (CodeBeamer), resulting in over 80% reduction in manual testing resources required for routine validation tasks.

Firmware Validation

  • Developed 56 test cases based on requirements and 27 additional test cases for firmware changes, identifying and reporting 8 issues to support feature and firmware development.

OTA(Over The Air) Feature Validation

  • Authored and executed 21 test cases—including normal operation, fault injection, and hardware fault injection scenarios—for OTA functionality, conducting tests on actual vehicles.

User Convenience Feature Validation

  • Developed 34 test cases to verify user convenience features, focusing on correct value transmission under specific conditions, with evaluations conducted both on real vehicles and HILS benches.

In-house Dynamic Model Development

  • Created requirements and logic for 2WD ↔ 4WD transition sequences in Simulink, establishing an environment capable of running approximately 50 automated test scripts for dynamic model validation.

Internship Software Engineer

Control works
06.2022 - 08.2024
  • Developed and validated the Kz tank engine software logic using Simulink and Stateflow.
  • Developed and validated the software logic based on Bosch specifications, storing all error data from the engine in 164 memory slots and continuously replacing them according to error priority.
  • Completed the project by meeting with the senior developer at least twice a week to share development progress and receive guidance.

Internship Mass Production Tech Engineer

HD Hyundai
01.2023 - 02.2024
  • Conducted a project on the topic of 'Engine Assembly Line Automation Status and Data Utilization Strategies'.
  • Studied and presented the process of data flow from automation devices to the Tool Server and MES, including the interlock process through comparison with standard values in the MES, to understand the automation data flow.
  • Assessed the level of automation applied in the factory by directly interviewing each line manager.

KATUSA Sergeant

US ARMY & Korean Army
11.2018 - 07.2020
  • Interpreted conversations in the weekly meetings between US Army Officers and Korean Army Officers.
  • Participated in the Korea-US joint military exercise, Key Resolve. (March, 2019)
  • Participated in the Korea-US joint military exercise, Foal Eagles. (April, 2019)
  • Served as the senior sergeant in the battalion for one year as a KATUSA.
