Since joining Samsung Heavy Industries (Offshore EPC contractor) in 2008, I worked as a Project Engineer and Mechanical Engineer while working on projects such as Drilling Vessel, CPF (Central Process Facility), and FPU (Floating Production Unit). At LG Energy Solution, one of the battery cell makers, I am working as project manager for automation facilities for overseas plant expansion.
At Samsung Heavy Industries, I mainly managed the design of mechanical equipment for floating offshore plant facilities for drilling and producing oil & gas. Especially, the offshore plant what I performed was a large-scale oil & gas plant construction, such as LNG CPF (Central Processing Facility) and FPU (Floating Production Unit), whose contract price exceeded 1 billion dollars. I managed the project schedule and ensured that the project was running smoothly and within budget. I participated in the project from Feed Engineering, managed the history of the entire construction, led the technical matters, and provide technical advice so that the Project Manager can make the right decisions for the project.
Currently, at LG Energy Solution as a Project Manager, I am working for factory automation at a battery plant that is being expanded in the United States. I mainly managed the project engineering issues and reported to high level management. I also provide the technical advice to manufacturers (Korean OEM) so that they can be manufactured according to specifications.
In addition to this project management experience, to manage overseas equipment & engineering companies, I have experience working overseas for two years at a European procurement center and an engineering center located in the US, respectively, so I have considerable competence for the management of vendor and engineering company management. Since I directly managed the European vendor and the US engineering company, I can know and perform all the activities from A to Z that needs to check between contract/procurement with the company. Through regular/irregular meetings with vendor, engineering companies, I directly engage in material supply and demand issues, design issues, and quality issues, and provide accurate and intuitive information and opinions so that high level management can make the right decisions on matters that need to be decided.
And, since I started my carrier as a Mechanical Engineer, I have a high understanding of all aspects of machinery design and technical meetings with vendor such like technical bid clarification meeting, Kick-off meeting, HAZOP. The equipment I was mainly responsible for is the mechanical equipment that requires complex packaging design such as machinery, instrument, electrical, and control. To this end, we have accumulated not only mechanical knowledge but also general knowledge about instrument and control philosophy for controlling and managing mechanical equipment through experience, and I accordingly have related certifications like CPE (Certified Plant Engineer).
As a Project Engineer, I always thought about “within budgetary” and “on time delivery” while performing facility construction. I can honestly say that I have had enough experience and qualifications as a Project Engineer so far, and I am applying for this Project Engineer Position. If given the opportunity for an interview, I will do my best to show my abilities.
