To leverage persuasive communication skills and embrace diversity to grow as an HR professional at Siemens.
[Communication Expert with Persuasive Skills]
Majoring in English Language and Literature helped develop strong English skills. Through various presentations, essays, and debates, it was able to learn how to communicate persuasively . Discussing unique topics, like “Which item would you bring if stranded in a desert?” or comparing different dramas, sharpened the ability to build logical and convincing arguments.
These skills are crucial in HR, especially when explaining new business ventures or policies. Being able to clearly communicate the necessity and benefits of a project to different departments is essential. These persuasive skills can help Siemens implement effective strategies and initiatives.
[Facilitator Who Leads with Joy]
By approaching work with joy and deep contemplation, not merely enjoying the tasks but continuously thinking and analyzing, I could achieve better results. For example, during a project on exchange rate systems in International Finance class, our team struggled with direction. By thoroughly reviewing past project examples and the professor's guidelines, I discovered that the focus should be more on analyzing phenomena rather than just economic figures. Based on this, I drafted a clear plan and led the team in generating ideas centered around key points.
I possess both planning and execution abilities. By coordinating the entire task based on checklists and gathered data, I ensured quick outcomes. I create presentations and reports from the audience's perspective, guiding the team to achieve set goals.
[Embracing Diversity]
The semester as an exchange student in Toronto, Canada enhanced conversational English skills and ability to embrace diversity. Canada is home to a variety of ethnicities, including Indian, Chinese, South American, and Arab communities. Living in a dormitory with students from six different nationalities, we frequently gathered in the common room to share our cultural differences and promise mutual respect. This experience taught me to respect diverse cultures and avoid conflicts, which would have been inevitable without such understanding.
[Aspiring HR Professional]
Interest in HR was significantly influenced by the experience as a Green Camp instructor during the military service. The primary goal was to help soldiers adapt to military life, but many soldiers falsely reported mental illnesses in order to leave the military. This experience highlighted the importance of identifying and managing such cases, reinforcing a desire to work in HR to select employees who contribute to the company’s growth and screen out those who may hinder it.
Based on this motivation, I started studying this field to become an HR professional. While studying, I have come to realize that the HR department plays a crucial role in leading the business from a company-wide perspective, acting as a strategic partner to the CEO and executives. I found the various HR tasks, such as talent acquisition, training and development, performance management, and organizational culture improvement, incredibly appealing due to their positive impact on both the company and its employees.
As mentioned above, my persuasive skills and ability to embrace diversity are significant advantages in performing HR duties. Persuasion involves the ability to logically substantiate arguments, a skill that is essential in many HR tasks such as recruitment, organizational culture development, and policy establishment. Additionally, the ability to embrace diversity without bias is crucial in identifying and nurturing key talents and roles. Therefore, I believe my skills will greatly benefit HR functions.
