Proven leader with over 15 years of industry experience in the Telecommunication and Telco industry, of which 9 years were in broad-base director and executive leadership roles.
I am currently an academic at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University. Our School is ranked #1 in Asia and 4th globally according to QS rankings. As an educator with industry experience, I remain highly involved in industry partnerships, through appointed roles and consulting projects.
Other than my academic role, I also took on an administrative role, first as the Deputy Director for the Master of Media and Communication Programme from 2020 to 2023 and as the Programme Director from 2023 onwards.
Before my career in academia, I was a seasoned business oriented marketer who understands how to define customer centric experiences, formulate go to market strategy and implement marketing communication plans across Asia Pacific. At Cisco Systems, Yahoo!, O2 and British Telecommunications, I have managed teams regionally with direct reporting line into global office. In these roles, I oversaw corporate and publicity communications, digital and social media strategy, events management, brand strategy and media relations under communication and drove brand and go-to-market product and retail launches regionally.
A sought-after interviewee on numerous broadcast, radio channels and for national dailies such as CNBC, Phoenix TV, Mediacorp, SPH and Today, I was invited for my expertise in strategic communication.
Outside of academia, I maintain good relationships with industry partners to stay relevant and contributes my expertise and consulting experience in a variety of ways. I serve as an advisor on the MINDEF Strategic Communication Expert Panel and IMDA ACCESS Committee for more than three terms. I am also a strong believer in industry collaborations. Partners I have collaborated with includes Huawei, Singapore, Google, Facebook, Airbnb, DBS, TikTok, Edelman, Hoffman, TBWA, Ogilvy, Ministry of Transport, SGAG, Udders, Intercontinental Hotel, Decathlon and Singapore Tourism Board.
As the Global Head of Brand and Marketing for Detroit Electric, my role is to set up the network agencies and team for Marketing Communication functions and work with regulatory bodies and/or interest groups to advance the development of electric cars in the city or country. The start-up was founded by the former CEO of Lotus-Proton.
