Growing up in the outback of Australia in the Flinders Ranges in a large family environment ,"Boy from the Bush" life & experiences, forging an early resilience and perseverance of character with dreams of travelling the world.

After joining the big Mining Company BHP as a Cadet I took first step overseas to New Zealand and eventually to Europe. There the strong passion for hotel management emerged from working in an historical inn in the Market Square of Devizes, Wiltshire UK. Returning to Australia continuing my hotel career with Australian Hotel Groups - Innkeepers Ltd, Four Seasons, Quality Pacific Hotels, SPHC eventually joining the Global Hotel Group Accor. My career in the hotel industry has given me not only growth in Hotel Management but also Construction & Design , pre opening and opening of hotels in various environments under different conditions.

As an Hotelier with an outstanding track record in challenging environments eg Myanmar, with excellent leadership capabilities, cross cultural expertise, and integrity, with key competencies in commercial business and organizational development. An experienced and driven leader with repeated success in transformation and development of businesses in emerging and developed markets.   • Industry : Hospitality, Tourism and Commercial Office & Retail - MERCURE MANDALAY HILL RESORT HOTEL (Novotel Mandalay to Feb 2003 )
  • With the withdrawal of Accor (AAPC) from Myanmar due to sanctions, the hotel was rebranded as Mandalay Hill Resort Hotel in 2003
  • With my continuation as General Manager reporting directly to the owner I was responsible for the rebranding and repositioning of the hotel, with additional developments to the hotel -creating the Mandalar Spa & Spa Villas, Kinsana Garden Theatre Cultural Restaurant and Conference Centre
  • Achieving a high level of success with hotel becoming leader in the Mandalay market, MPI above market share, high Trip Advisor ratings and high Departmental GOP & Hotel GOP levels
  • Steering the Sales & Marketing established the hotel successfully in the International and Domestic markets
  • The Mandalay Hill Resort Hotel rejoined Accor and rebranded to Mercure Mandalay Hill Resort from 2018
  • In addition to management of the Mandalay Hill Resort Hotel, I was engaged by the owner ( LP Holding Co Ltd ) from 2005 to take on additional responsibilities for the restart of the “Sofitel Hotel” in Yangon
  • This project had been mothballed since the 1997 Asian Financial crisis
  • After undergoing an extensive refit and refurbishment this development the “Sofitel Hotel” was repositioned as the Centrepoint Towers Office & Hotel
  • The recommencement of this development “Sofitel Hotel” in 2005 , with opening in 2010 of Commercial Office Tower of 15000sqm Office space and Retail 2000sqm and Hotel in 2018 as Pullman Yangon Centrepoint
  • My additional responsibilities from 2005 included the negotiation with Government Departments both at Ministerial level in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon with Myanmar Investment Commission ,Yangon City Development Committee and Township Offices
  • As well I was responsible for the Sales & Marketing of the Office Tower and negotiation and leasing of Office & Retail units
  • Key Tenants included the Canada Embassy, Qatar Airlines, Nestle, Krung Thai Bank, Maybank, ABB, Exim Bank , Ooredoo, Nokia Siemens, Toshiba, Itochu & Toyo Thai
  • For the International Hotel – Responsible for the Management of Pre-opening with the planning of operations and design, FFE procurement, Marketing and Recruitment and the development of F&B concepts for the hotel
  • Soft Opening in 2015 as Centrepoint Grand Hotel upon Government request
  • HMA negotiated with Accor in 2017 with hotel rebranded under ACCOR - Pullman Yangon Centrepoint with re-opening in Feb 2018

  • Leading the team through the changes in the market the hotel successfully channeled efforts toward the Corporate Conference and MICE market with innovative off property events
  • Established outdoor contracted catering venues and events in Rotorua’s Redwood Forest – launching “Redwood Forest Sails”, and Rotorua’s Historical Spa Museum
  • Engaged in Sporting events ie Rugby “Chiefs” sponsor and Cultural events ie “Rotorua’s Lakeside Concert”
  • With the return of International market the construction of the” Matariki Concert Hall” for Maori Dance and Hangi greatly enhanced our position in attracting Group & FIT tourists to the hotel
