HPC Weather Applications (WRF, KIM, UM)
HPC Application Analyst
- Provided on-site HPC application support at the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), supporting large-scale operational weather and climate models in a production supercomputing environment.
- Debugged and optimized MPI/OpenMP-based workloads, identifying performance bottlenecks related to scalability, CPU affinity, and parallel I/O on multi-node clusters.
- Supported execution and performance tuning of numerical weather prediction models such as WRF and KIM, ensuring stable operation for forecasting workflows.
- Worked closely with system administrators and external vendors to troubleshoot application and system-level performance issues on Intel-based HPC systems.
- Assisted users with job scheduling, runtime configuration, and best practices for running parallel applications in Linux-based HPC environments.
- Expanded responsibilities to include Python-based automation and early-stage integration of AI/LLM tools into scientific and HPC workflows.
