Work History

Music Assistant Professor, Lecturer

Baek-Seok Art University
Seoul, Seoul
03.2017 - 06.2023
  • Jazz History class: Through jazz history, the cultural and social background of the United States, how the music was born at that time, and how it affected the music that was popular in modern and contemporary times, we were taught to approach music from various perspectives through the process of the creation of such music.
  • Performance class: Each student in the class became the leader of the team and announced the performance they prepared, instructing them to learn the leadership that the team leader should have and how to run the team members.
  • Rhythm and Style Analysis class: Based on various types of musical styles, we focused on the rhythm to explain which rhythm came from, and had students find out what rhythm was used in the chronological music style and present what they found.
  • Fusion ensemble class: Through the process of listening to and playing the music of famous musicians who were active in the 1970s when fusion music was popular, students were taught to study and practice the beats, harmonies, melodies, and improvisations contained in the music.
  • Latin Ensemble class: The various rhythms of afro-cuban and Brazilian music, which are based on Latin music, were first taught to students, and through those rhythms, they were applied to Standard jazz and taught to play.

Music Instructor

Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts
Anseong, Gyeonggi-do
03.2017 - 06.2018

I taught vocal students about various rhythms and how they can be used.
For example, through the 'Bembe' rhythm, one of the African rhythms, the concept of 4/4 beats was divided into 12/8 beats to guide a flexible approach to the beat.
This made it possible to feel one beat with 8th beat or triplet at once, helping you to phrase freely without being trapped in the beat.

  • Fostered a culture of creativity by encouraging improvisation exercises, composition projects, and collaborative performances.
  • Maintained up-to-date knowledge of current music education trends, incorporating innovative strategies into the curriculum.
  • Facilitated masterclasses with professional musicians who shared insights about careers in music-related fields.
