  • Taught graduating class(2 classes) and first year midshipmen(5 classes) the basics of maritime laws, focusing heavily on COLREGs for its importance to a future navy officer.
  • Instructor on a ship during midshipmen training, such as during Cruise training or Coastal training for 5months. While onboard the ship with the midshipmen, every midshipmen were taught the basics of navigation using the simulator onboard the training ship. For the final training, all night evolution was conducted and during that time, the midshipmen were tested on the subject taught to reinforce their learning. Also supervised midshipmen's behavior on the ship and answered questions on their future career prospects

  • In charge of coordinating combined exercises, i.e. scheduling meetings, combining each participant's requests and resolving conflicts between participants(between units or nations). Managed coperation of multi-nations and their respective counterparts and especially managed internal discussion of the units, which involved ROK Navy, Singapore Navy, US Navy and Marine Corps.
  • In charge of keeping track of exercises for each ship that belongs to the Flotilla, which were used later for annual evaluation.

  • In charge of scheduling the ship's sailing schedule, i.e. participation in exercise or training, regular deployment and also prepare ship's departure and arrival. For example, as a operation officer on an amphibious ship, planned departure and training schedule to ensure the ship's exercise is in sync with the overall exercise of the overall unit.
  • In charge of ship's readiness and crew's training, which involved daily exercise and annual exercises to ensure ship is ready to fight tonight
  • Officer of the watch during the ship's sail 8 hours a day, to ensure ship and crew's safety during deployment.
  • Provided educations marines who came onboard to learn about the nature of the ship.

  • Supervise Chief Engineering Officer with managing 3 divisions(DC, EM and MM) within the Engineering Department
  • Schedule and run maintenance meeting for the whole ship regularly(weekly/monthly) to monitor if maintenance is being done properly and each division's maintenance does not conflict with the other's.
  • Run CBN training, Damage control training and engine troubleshooting drills weekly/monthly/yearly to ensure the ship's crew are prepared in case of crisis.
  • Report equipment malfunction within engineering department and conduct/request repair when such accidents happen

  • Schedule tug boats and linehandlers for the ship to ensure the ship can be deployed on time
  • Assist the pilot with navigation while onboard the ship, since the pilot was usually not familiar with the ship's internals.

  • Assist in translating during deployment to Somalia as part of the CTF151, such as during combined training or open invitation to the ship
