Hello, I’m Taegu Kang, a junior Industrial Design major at RISD with a concentration in Computation, Technology, and Culture (UI/UX), and a cross-registered student at Brown University. My interdisciplinary education merges design, systems thinking, and digital technology—giving me the tools to imagine, prototype, and communicate holistic solutions that are both functional and emotionally resonant.
I am proficient in content creation tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite and skilled in 3D and digital design platforms including SolidWorks, Rhino, HTML/CSS, and more.Professionally, I bring diverse experience from roles such as R&D and digital content strategist at an education company, and as a Design and Research PM Intern at Startup Alliance (under Naver), where I managed high-level tech conferences involving partners like Hyundai, Aramco, and top VCs, while also leading the creation of an AI EdTech market map.
I also managed and supported the National Assembly of Korea, supporting legislative research and operations around the AI Basic Law forum with Assembly Member Hwang Jeong-Ah.
These experiences have shaped me into a holistic creative professional who thrives at the intersection of design, leadership, research, and systems thinking. I value craftsmanship, storytelling, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and aim to design with purpose—developing solutions that are not only visually compelling but also strategically impactful, sustainable, and human-centered.
My aspiration is to redefine the role of design: not just as a tool for aesthetics or utility, but as a medium to build culture, drive communication, and create emotional and systemic resonance in the world.

At Brown University, I served as Editor-in-Chief of the campus newspaper, overseeing the entire editorial process from article planning and content editing to team management. Collaborating with students from diverse academic backgrounds, I developed a deep understanding of storytelling’s core essence and the powerful influence of media. To deliver reader-centered content, I consistently strengthened my skills in strategic planning, leadership, and writing. This experience has become a key asset, sharpening my communication abilities and enhancing my effectiveness in collaborative and fast-paced organizational environments.
Helped design initiatives in collaboration with Brown University medical school students.
Interning in an English kindergarten, I gained valuable experience in a real organizational setting. In a school with about 70 staff members, I worked as part of a 10-person R&D team, participating in HR support, curriculum development, and administrative tasks. This role allowed me to understand the complex processes and coordination needed to operate an organization effectively.
I approached every task with humility and professionalism. Through this experience, I learned the realities of educational operations, the importance of teamwork, and the responsibility required in a professional environment. In particular, participating in curriculum development taught me how small decisions can significantly impact the learning environment, strengthening my ability to balance design, communication, and strategy.
During the MOU selection process with i-Ready, I navigated conflicting opinions among staff by carefully analyzing each platform’s strengths. By focusing on student engagement, long-term usability, and user-centered learning, I helped guide the decision to adopt i-Ready, further developing my skills in negotiation, strategic decision-making, and user-focused thinking.
After enrolling at RISD, I was elected as the Student Council President representing the entire first-year class. In this role, I served as a bridge between the school administration and the student body, addressing a wide range of academic and community issues. Through gathering diverse perspectives and leading proposals for problem-solving, I was able to develop strong organizational communication skills, leadership, and the ability to execute initiatives effectively. Representing students in RISD’s uniquely creative environment further strengthened my ability to propose, negotiate, and collaborate, shaping me into a persuasive and team-oriented individual.
I fulfilled my mandatory military service by working as a Representative Public Service Worker at Seonjeongneung Station, one of Seoul's major transportation hubs.In this role, I served as the station’s primary English interpreter, assisting foreign visitors with translation, managing English-language signage, and supporting administrative tasks.
